Spring in Cornwall and Chyrond

Cornwall cliff top in the SpringThe thatched roundhouse can look its best in the spring when our gardener, Chris, has tidied up after the winter.

Primroses and violets on the coastal path, or is it the sound of the lark high up above the cliff, or perhaps the daffodils at Caerhays Castle? Is this spring in Cornwall?

This is sounding too prosaic! Perhaps it is Veryan Church on Easter Day and how years ago the vicar would makes us struggle through the Easter Anthems, although no-one knew the tune and struggled with the words.

Spring in Cornwall is my favourite time of year. The week before Easter in the Roseland Inn in Philleigh with a fire in the grate and a friendly barman with pint of Betty Stogs.

Or in that space between the bank holidays when the weather is often good and there are few people around. A big plus in coming after 1 April is that the crab boats go out and their catch can be found at Truro’s farmers market or even closer to hand.
